StarCalm AI is a mental health technology platform developed and operated by StarCalm AI, based in New Delhi, India. Our platform has two components:

• Patient App: A daily check-in and wellness tool for individuals managing their mental health.
• Therapist Dashboard: A professional tool for licensed mental health practitioners to monitor patient wellbeing between sessions.

We collect only the data necessary to provide our service. We do not collect data for advertising purposes.

We use the data we collect for the following purposes only:

• To provide the service: Generating weekly reports, tracking check-in streaks, displaying mood trend charts, and powering the therapist dashboard.
• To enable therapist-patient connection: Sharing your check-in data with the therapist you are linked to on the platform.
• To improve the app: Aggregated, anonymised usage patterns help us improve features. Individual user data is never used for this purpose.
• To communicate with you: Daily check-in reminders, account notices, and support responses.

Your data is shared in the following limited circumstances only:

• With your linked therapist: Your daily check-in responses, optional notes, and weekly summaries are visible to the therapist you have chosen to connect with on the platform. No other therapist can see your data.
• With service providers: We use the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each is bound by strict data processing agreements:
• Cloud hosting (AWS India region) — for data storage and server infrastructure
• Authentication & Analytics (Google Play Services / Firebase) — for secure account login, push notifications, and stability monitoring
• Email service — for account and notification emails

We do not share your data with any other third party without your explicit written consent.

Mental health data is among the most sensitive data that exists. We treat it accordingly.

• Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3.
• Encryption at rest: All stored patient data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption on our servers.
• Access controls: Only your linked therapist can see your check-in data. Our internal engineering team does not have access to identifiable patient data in normal operations.
• Secure authentication: Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt. We never store plain-text passwords.
• Audit logging: Every access to patient data is logged with a timestamp. We can detect and investigate unauthorised access.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

• Check-in responses: Retained for 24 months from the date of entry, then permanently deleted.
• Account information: Retained until you delete your account.
• After account deletion: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of your account deletion request. Anonymised, non-identifiable aggregate data may be retained for service improvement.

As a user of StarCalm AI, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access: You can request a full copy of all data we hold about you at any time.
• Right to correction: You can request correction of any inaccurate personal information.
• Right to deletion: You can delete your account directly inside the app via Settings > Account > Delete Account. Alternatively, you can submit a deletion request by emailing starcalmai@gmail.com. Upon request, all personal data and check-in history will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
• Right to data portability: You can request your check-in history in a readable format (CSV or JSON) at any time.
• Right to withdraw consent: You can disconnect from a therapist or opt out of specific data collection at any time through your profile settings.
• Right to opt out of notifications: You can turn off daily reminders and other notifications at any time in your notification settings.

StarCalm AI is intended for users aged 18 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18.

The information you share in your daily check-ins — including mood, sleep quality, anxiety levels, and mental health status — is classified as sensitive personal data under applicable data protection law.

• It is never sold, licensed, or transferred to any third party for commercial purposes.
• It is never used to make automated decisions that affect you without human therapist oversight.
• It is never shared with employers, insurance providers, or government authorities without a lawful court order.
• It is never used to train machine learning models without your explicit written consent.

StarCalm AI uses minimal cookies strictly necessary to operate the platform:

• Session cookies: To keep you logged in during a session. These expire when you close the app.
• Authentication tokens: To verify your identity securely across sessions.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics tools that send your data to external companies.

Our app may display links to external resources such as mental health organisations or educational articles. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external websites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
